Northern Lights

A shimmer of rose that shakes the soul,
A gleam of blue, ice-cold;
And high above where the skies unroll,
A quivering shaft of gold.

A sudden dance of a thousand lights,
An up-flung banner of red;
The sweeping silence of northern nights;
"The search-lights of God," you said.
