In the Dark

Don't make it light!
Who's afraid of night?
I want to watch the star
That's up so very far.

Don't make it light!
It's just at night
That I can see the moon.
She hides away at noon.

Don't make it light!
It'll spoil the night
And frighten all away
The dreams that come to play.

Don't make it light!
I love the night.
When my mother comes, you see,
In the dark she'll know it's me.

She'll just stoop and find my face,
Kiss my nose or any place.
