The Government of Japan and the Government of the Polish People's Republic,
Desiring to put an end to the state of war existing between the two countries and to re-establish peaceful and friendly relations between them based on the principles of the United Nations Charter,
Have agreed as follows:
Article I
The state of war between Japan and the Polish People's Republic shall come to an end on the date of the entry into force of this Agreement.
Article II
Diplomatic relations shall be re-established between Japan and the Polish People's Republic, and the two countries shall exchange without delay diplomatic representatives with the rank of ambassadors.
Article III
1. Japan and the Polish People's Republic reaffirm that they will be guided by the principles of the United Nations Charter, and in particular by the following principles, stated in Article 2 of the Charter:
(a) Settling their international disputes by peaceful means in such a manner that international peace and security, and justice, are not endangered;
(b) Refraining in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.
2. Japan and the Polish People's Republic undertake not to intervene, whether directly or indirectly, in each other's internal affairs, regardless of economic, political or ideological reasons.
Article IV
Japan and the Polish People's Republic each renounces all claims by its State, organizations and nationals against the other State, its organizations and nationals resulting from the war between the two countries.
Article V
Japan and the Polish People's Republic shall as soon as possible enter into negotiations with a view to concluding treaties or agreements to place their commercial and maritime relations on a stable and friendly basis.
Article VI
This Agreement shall be subject to ratification and the instruments of ratification shall be exchanged at Warsaw as soon as possible. It shall enter into force on the date of the exchange of the instruments of ratification.
In witness whereof the undersigned, being duly authorized by their respective Governments, have signed this Agreement.
