Translation:The La Villette Refinery Women
THE LA VILLETTE REFINERY WOMEN
The sugar-breaker women have got style, goddamn it!
As soon as the women workers at the Sommier penal colony dropped their work, the friends from the other factories went on strike — straight away, out of solidarity.
It's swell, by thunder!
It sure beats the sluggishness of the good old fellas.
And folks in the neighborhood are talking, goddamn it! Everyone's cheering on the sugar-breakers, adding: "they're setting an example for the men!"
They've already had run-ins with the bastards; scratched up those big thugs from the central brigade, and if they didn't gouge out their eyes — it sure wasn't for lack of trying!
Of course, the pigs hit back like the brutes they are, and plenty of brave gals got beat up real bad. A whole bunch of them even got thrown in the slammer.
Now the good lads of La Villette are starting to get riled up. And if the cops don't start playing nice, the butchers just might treat them to a good old-fashioned beating.
And damn, when the butchers get involved in something, they don't exactly hold back.
As for the strike itself, I'm afraid the poor gals are gonna get swindled out of any real win.
They're protesting the endless fines they're being slammed with; they're asking for just a few extra cents.
A pittance, goddamn it! The bosses could cough it up and not even feel it. But those assholes won't budge — they'll heap every kind of filth on their workers.
And it'll be the same in every strike where folks try to chit-chat with the exploiters.
