The New International Encyclopædia/Decennial Games

​DECEN′NIAL GAMES (Lat. Decennalia, nom. pl., from decem, ten + annus, year). The games celebrated in ancient Rome to commemorate the nominal refusal of Augustus to be Emperor for life, and his preference for reëlection once in ten years. They were maintained as a popular amusement until the last days of the Empire.
