Poems (Rumell)/Real play
REAL PLAY
I had delved and searched and studied,
Through life's broad and interesting way.
Was over-joyed in my thirst for wisdom,
Till I found-I had forgotten how to play!
Through life's broad and interesting way.
Was over-joyed in my thirst for wisdom,
Till I found-I had forgotten how to play!
I was shocked, and in deep disappointment,
I began to see, what now is so plain;
Real play, is one of life's best lessons,
Which I feel, God meant we should retain.
I began to see, what now is so plain;
Real play, is one of life's best lessons,
Which I feel, God meant we should retain.
I sought Youth, it's irresistible pleasure,
It's rapturous interest, and it's joy,
And I have learned, at my leisure
That play, in our life, is not a toy.
It's rapturous interest, and it's joy,
And I have learned, at my leisure
That play, in our life, is not a toy.
If we are chained, to one view or vision,
With no rest nor play in our plan,
We lose the force of our best inspiration,
God gave, by hand of the child, to man.
With no rest nor play in our plan,
We lose the force of our best inspiration,
God gave, by hand of the child, to man.
