I LONG to look on the sounding sea, Where the flashing waves, in their sportive glee, Dash high the spray to the passing wind, That roams o'er the waters unconfined, And gather the mists in their ample shrouds, As offerings sweet to the summer clouds. I long to gaze on the waters bright, As they leap in their liquid garbs of light, To snatch a kiss from the sweet sunbeams, Ere the evening lulls them to nautic dreams.
