BARINE.

FROM HORACE.

"Ulla si juris tibi pejerati
Pœna, Barine, nocuisset unquam:"
&c. &c.

If but the slightest punishment
To teach you had been ever sent
No longer to deceive;
If but one beauty left your face,
Or lost your form a single grace,
Perhaps I might believe.

But you no sooner on you take
Those winning vows you mean to break,
Than such redoubled charms
Flash from your radiant brow and eyes,
That Gods, who mark your perjuries,
Enamour'd, drop their arms.
