Father died in 1865, leaving her a fortune sald to have been $9,000,000. This she has personally administered and increased by investments in real estate, stocks, bonds and securities, railroad property, etc., until she is now reputed to be the richest woman in the country; distinguished for financial ability; in- terested in many large enterprises, and has argo real estate holdings in New York, Chicago and other cities.
