family to obtain the title of Rai Bahadur. He was for nine years Vice-President of the Khandwa Municipality, and for eighteen years President of the School Board of that town. He was one of the founders of the Khandwa High School, and used to teach there himself to encourage pupils: the school is now in a most flourishing position. He owns a large amount of land and house property in Calcutta. He is the leader of the Local Bar, and President of the Bar Association.
