(2) This Agreement shall cease to have effect three months after the date on which one of the two Governments notifies the other Government that it wishes to terminate it.

(3) Article 1 shall cease to have effect if provision should be made in the domestic legislation of one of the Contracting States that marriages may be concluded only before the competent local authorities.

In witness whereof the plenipotentiaries have signed this Agreement.

Done at Tokyo, on 27 June 1957, in duplicate, in the Japanese and German languages, both texts being equally authentic.
