Samples of wine aërated under the present regulations may, when required for bonâ fide trade purposes, be allowed in quantities of not more than 3 quarts or 6 pints from each operation on payment of the alcoholic duty only. Persons desiring to render still wine sparkling in bond will be required to give 24 hours notice, in writing, of their intention to operate in warehouse, and they will be required to make a deposit to cover the cost of super-intendence when considered necessary by the Board. (See paragraphs 366, 379, 385, 407 and 510 (K)).

Repayment of Allowances in the Case of British Spirits returned.

The attention of the Board having been directed to a diversity of practice in respect of repayments of export allowances on British spirits returned to the United Kingdom and entered by bill of store, the Board, after communication with the Commissioners of Inland Revenue, direct :-

1. That the allowance shall in all cases be repaid to the Collector of Customs at the port of importation;

2. That it shall be repaid before the goods are re-warehoused, or removed under paragraph 249; and

3. That it shall be paid on the proof quantity of the spirits re-entered.

Paragraph 258 of the Code is to be noted accordingly.
