AMSTERDAM (Holland). Gules, on a pale sable, three saltires couped argent. Supporters—Two lions guardant or. Since 1508 the shield has been surmounted by the Roman German Imperial Crown, in accordance with the Patent granted by Maximilian I., February 11, 1489.

ANCONA (Italy). Gules, on a mount in base vert, a chevalier at full speed armed cap-a-pié, brandishing in his dexter hand a sword all proper, on a chief azure, three fleurs-de-lis or,separated by the files of a label of four points gules.


ANDORRA, Republic of. Quarterly, i, argent, a mitre or 2, or; three pallets gules; 3, gules, a crosier argent, the head or; 4, or, two bulls passant in pale gules, collared and belled argent.
