"My only fear is that his health may not stand the strain," groaned Akshay.

"Why, is his constitution not good?" exclaimed Annada Babu.

"He doesn't give it a fair chance. He spends the whole day praying and studying the scriptures, and pays no attention to his health."

"Well, that's very wrong of him," said Annada; "we have no right to neglect our bodies; we didn't create them ourselves. If I only had the opportunity I'd soon be able to restore him to health. To preserve one's health it is only necessary to follow a few simple rules; the first of them is -"

At this point Jqgendra's patience gave out "All this is beside the point, dad! Nalinaksha Babu is perfectly well. When I saw him this afternoon it struck me that the saintly life must conduce to bodily fitness. I've a good mind to try it, myself !"

"I don't know, Jogendra," resumed Annada ; "what Akshay says may be quite correct. Most of our greatest men die young. They do a disservice to their country in neglecting their own health. It's not right that this should be so. You know, Jogendra, I think you're mistaken in your estimate of Nalinaksha Babu. He has the right stuff in him He ought to be ad- vised to take care of himself."

"Look here," said Akshay, "I'll bring him along and introduce him to you ; I think it would be a good thing if you had a serious talk with him. That re- minds me, there's that vegetable- juice that you pre- scribed for me when the examinations were on, it's a magnificent tonic. It's the finest stimulant imaginable for a brain-worker. You just take Nalinaksha Babu in hand and-"
