good person; and also the sacraments of Baptism and the Holy Supper. (A. C. 3670.)
All and singular the things of the Word are holy. But the holiness which is therein does not appear to the understanding, except of him who is acquainted with the internal sense thereof. Nevertheless it appears to the perception of him who believes the Word to be holy, by means of influx from heaven. Such influx is wrought through the internal sense in which the angels are principled; which sense, although not understood by man, still affects him, because the affection of the angels who are in that sense is communicated. Hence it is evident that the Word was given to man, that he may have communication with heaven, and that the divine truth which is in heaven may affect him by influx. (A. C. 5247.)
