T HE RIGHT REV. ALFRED EARLE, D.D., was educated at Oxford, and ordained deacon at twenty-six, at which age he is represented in our first portrait. For some time he held the appointment of Vicar of Marlborough, whence he was transferred to West Alvington, in the diocese of Exeter. At the age of thirty-three he was made Canon and Prebendary of Exeter, and at forty received the appointment of Archdeacon of Totnes. A few months ago he was created Rector of St. Michael's, Cornhill, and Bishop Suffragan of London, under the title of Bishop of Marlborough.
