course, not intended by the use of the word "slightly" to intimate that the author did not recognize the true nature of the green-schists of the region. It is well known that in the article referred to that he emphasized particularly the fact that the schists are metamorphosed basic eruptives. He also showed that many of the rocks which still preserve their diabasic and basaltic characters are nevertheless "slightly" schistose, and it is this fact to which it was desired by the writer to call especial attention. This correction is made to prevent misapprehension of the writer's attitude toward the valuable contributions of Dr. Wadsworth to our knowledge of the greenstone-schists of the Lake Superior region.
