1. JOHN VAUGHAN, of Crosswood, (Trawscoed) co. Cardigan, s. and h. of Edward VAUGHAN,[1] of the same, one of the Lords of the Admiralty, by Letitia, da. of Sir William HoOKER, was b. about 1670; c. his father in 1683, and having m. 18 Aug. 1692, at St. Giles in the fields; (Lic. Fac.), Mallet, sister and coheir (1681) of Charles, 3d Earl of Rochester, 3 da. of John WILMOT), 2d EARL OF ROCHESTER (the well known favourite of Charles II.) by Elizabeth, da, and h. of John MALET, of Enmore, Somerset, was cr. BARON OF FETHARD ("Fethers") co. Tipperary and VISCOUNT LISBURNE co. Autrim [L] He was M.P. for Cardiganshire in several Parls., and in 1714 was Lord Lieut. thereof. She, who was 6, about 1675, d, 1716. He was bur. 5 April 1721 at Greenwich. Will pr. 1721.

2. JOHN (VAUGHAN), VISCOUNT LISBURNE, &c. [I.] s. and h., b. about 1695; suc. to the peerage [I.] in 1721; Lord Lieut. of Cardiganshire, 1721; M.P. for that county, 1727-34. He was refused his seat in the House of Lords [I.] by reason of the patent not being enrolled, whereupon he petitioned the said house, 29 March 1736, for his writ, but no resolution thereon was passed. He m. firstly, at her father's house in Essex street, Strand (—) da. of Sir John BENNET, Serjeant at Law. She d. s.p. 31 July 1723. He m. secondly, 1725, Dorothy, da. of Richard HILL, of Henblas, co. Moutgomery, He d. s p.m. 15 Jan. 1741 at (Trawscoed) Crosswood. His widow d. 20 Nov. 1790.

3. WILMOT (VAUGHAN), VISCOUNT LISBURNE, &C. [I], br. and h. male; Lord Lieut. of Cardiganshire, 1741-60. He m. in 1727 Elizabeth 1st da. of Thomas WATSON, of Berwick-upon-Tweed and Grindon Ridge, co. Durham. He d. at (Trawscoed) Crosswood, 19 January 1766.

4. and 1. WILMOT (VAUGHAN), VISCOUNT LISBURNE, &c. [I]. B. and h., b, about 1730; was M.P. for Cardiganshire 1755-61, for Berwick-upon-Tweel, 1765-68, and for Cardiganshire (again) 1768-91. Lord Lieut. of Cardiganshire 1760; suc. to the peerage [I.] Jan. 1766 a Lord of Trade 1768 and a Lord of the Admiralty 1770-82. Hem. firstly, 3 July 1754, at St. Geo. Han. sq., Elizabeth, sister and (in 1734) h. to Washingtou Nightingale, being only da. of Joseph Gascoigue NIGHTINGALE, of Mamhead, Devon, and of Enfield, Midx., by Elizabetu, da, and coheir of Washington (SHIRLEY) 2d EARL FERRERS. She d. 19 and was bur. 24 May 1755 at Enfield. m. secondly 19 April 1763, Dorothy, 1st da. of John SHAFTO, of Whit. worth, co. Durham, by Mary, da. and h. of Thomas JACKSON, of Nunnington, co. York. He d. 6 Jan. 1800 aged about 70. Will pr. March 1800. His widow d. 12 Sep. 1805.

2 and 5. WILMOT (VAUGHAN), EARL OF LISBURNE, &c. [I.], s. and h. by first wife, b. 9 May 1755; styled LORD VAUGHAN from 1766 till he suc. to the peerage [I.] in 1800. He d. umm., 6 May 1820, in his 65th year, near Stamford, co. Lincoln.[2] Admon. Dec. 1820.

(of the half blood) and h., being s. of the 1st Earl by his second wife; b. 3 March 1769; a Col. in the army; M.P. for Cardigan, 1796-1818; suc. to the peerage [I.], 6 May 1820. He m., 2 Aug. 1798, Lucy, sister (whose issue in 1835 became co-heir) to William, EARL OF DEVON, da. of William (COURTENAY), 2d VISCOUNT COURTENAY OF POWDERHAM CASTLE (de jure EARL OF DEVON), by Frances, da. of Thomas CLACK. She, who was b. 13 June 1770, d. in Paris, 27 Jau. 1822, aged 51. He d. 18 May 1831, aged 62. He d. 18 May 1831, aged 62. Will pr. July 1831.
