  1. வையம் பெரிதானாலும் வளம் உள்ள இடம் கொஞ்சம்.
    Though the earth is of vast extent, the space adapted to the wants of man is limited.
  2. வையம் பெரிது அதில் வருத்தமும் பெரிது.
    The world is great, and its anxieties are also great.
  3. வையம் கெட்டால் ஐயம் இல்லை.
    If the world be destroyed, almsgiving will cease.
  4. வைய வைய வைரக்கல், திட்டத் திட்டத் திண்டுக்கல்.
    The more abused the more durable, the more despised the more hardened.
  5. வைரத்தை வைரம் கொண்டே அறுக்க வேண்டும்.
    A diamond must be cut with a diamond.
  6. வைரம் மனதில் வையாதே.
    Harbour not malice.
  7. வைரம் கொண்டவன் வைரப்பொடி தின்று சாகிறான்.
    He who purchases diamonds will die by swallowing the particles.
  8. வைராக்கிய சதகம் சதகங்களில் விசேஷம்.
    The most distinguished of satakams is that on self control.
    A satakam is a poem of a hundred stanzas.
  9. வைராக்கியம் பகை முதலிய துர்க்குணங்களில் விசேஷம்.
    Malice is of all forms of hatred the most pernicious.
  10. வைவார்க்கு இன்பம் இல்லை, பொறுத்தார்க்குத் துன்பம் இல்லை.
    The abusive have no happiness the forbearing, have no misery.
  11. வைராவி துறவிகளில் விசேஷம்.
    Among ascetics the vairávi is the most distinguished.
