பழமொழி.
  1. முதல் எழுத்திலே வெள்ளெழுத்தா?
    What, dim-sighted at the beginning of the Alphabet?
  2. முதற் கோணல் முற்றும் கோணல்.
    If crooked at first, it will be so throughout.
  3. முதுகிலே புண் உண்டானால் செடியிலே நுழையப் பயம்.
    If one has a wound on his back, he will fear to pass under a bush.
  4. முத்தால் நத்தை பெருமைப்படும், மூடர் எத்தாலும் பெருமைப்படார்.
    A snail is precious by reason of its pearl, fools have naught wherewith to attain greatness.
  5. முத்திலும் சொத்தை உண்டு, பவழத்திலும் பழுது உண்டு.
    Flaws may be found in pearls and also in coral.
  6. முந்தி வந்த செவியைப் பிந்தி வந்த கொம்பு மறைத்ததாம்.
    It is said that the ears which came first, were covered by the horns which sprung up afterwards.
  7. முந்தினோர் பிந்தினோர் ஆவர் பிந்தினோர் முந்தினோர் ஆவர்.
    The first shall be last, and the last first.
  8. முந்தின சோத்தைத் தட்டினால் பிந்தின சோறு பீயும் சோறும்.
    If the first food be rejected, worse may be offered.
  9. முந்நாழி கறக்கிற பசுவானாலும் இறப்பைப் பிடுங்குகிற பசு ஆகாது.
    Though a cow yields three measures of milk, it is not desirable if it pulls down the roof.
  10. முப்பதிலே மூர்க்கம், நாற்பதிலே நாகரீகம்.
    Obstinacy at thirty, civility at forty.
  11. முப்பது பணம் கொடுத்தாலும் மூளிப்பட்டம் போகாது.
    Though one may give thirty fanams, the nickname, crop-eared, will not be removed.
