  1. பொருடனைப் போற்றிவாழ்.
    Preserve your substance and live.
  2. பொருளாசையும் மனச்சாட்சியும் பொருந்துமா?
    Will covetous desires and conscience agree?
  3. பொருளும் கொடுத்துப் பழியும் தேட.
    Giving one’s wealth and incurring censure.
  4. பொருளும் போகமும் கூடவராது புண்ணியமே கூடவரும்.
    Wealth and pleasure will be separated from us, but virtue will abide.
  5. பொருள் போன வழியே துக்கம் போம்.

    Avoid whatever is evil.

    Inauspicious times come without giving notice.
  9. பொல்லாதவர்கள் சினப்பட்டால் கல்வின் பிளவு போல ராசியாகமாட்டார்கள்.
