  1. கோழி மிதித்துக் குஞ்சு முடம் ஆகுமா?
    Will a chicken become lame if the mother hen treads on it?
  2. கோழி முடத்துக்குக் கடா வெட்டிப் பலி இட்டதுபோல்.
    Like sacrificing a sheep for the recovery of a lame fowl.
  3. கோழி முட்டையில் மயிர் பிடுங்கலாமா?
    Can hair be plucked off a hen’s egg?
  4. கோழியைக் கேட்டோ ஆணம் காய்ச்சுறது?
    Is the fowl to be consulted when it is to be prepared for the table?
  5. கோளுக்கு முந்தேன் கூழுக்குப் பிந்தேன்.
    Be not first at slander nor last at meals.
  6. கோளும் சொல்லிக் கும்பிடுவானேன்.
    Why professions of respect regarding one about whom you are always telling tales?

  1. கௌசிகத்து ஒளியில் எவர்க்கும் ஒளிரும்.
    Near the candle-stick it will be clear to all.
  2. கௌவை உடையார் காலைத் தொடு.
    Touch the feet of those with whom you have aught to do.
  3. கௌவை கருதேன்.
    Be mindful of your business.
  4. கௌவைச் சொல்லில் எவர்க்கும் பகை.
    Abusive words will create enmity.
  5. கௌவைப்பட்டால் காயத்தில் ஒரு முழம் நீளுமா?
    Can anxiety add length to one’s body?
  6. கௌவையதில்லான் திவ்விய சொல்லான்.
    He who has no concern will not say any thing favourable.
