  1. காதம் விட்டு இருகாதம் சுற்றுகிறதுபோல.
    Like ranging over the distance of two kathams instead of one.
  2. காதம் கொடுத்து இருகாதம் வாங்குகிறதுபோல.
    Like giving a katham and getting two.
  3. காதவழி போய் அறியாதான் மாதம் எல்லாம் நடந்தானாம்.
    He who never walked a katham is said to have walked a whole month.
  4. காதவழி போய் அறியான் கழுதைப் பிறப்பு.
    He who never walked a katham is an ass.
  5. காதவழி பெயர் இல்லான் கழுதையோடு ஒக்கும்.
    He whose reputation does not reach a kathan is like an ass.

    Like an iron wire passed into the ear.
