  1. ஊதாரிக்குப் பொன்னும் துரும்பு.
    Even gold is a mere rush to the spendthrift.

    If blown it will fly off, if sucked it will go in.
  3. ஊதுகிற சங்கு ஊதினால் விடிகிறபோது விடிகிறது.
    If you blow the conch, the day will break as it is wont.
  4. ஊத்தைவாயன் தேட நாற்றவாயன் தின்ன.
    Acquired by the filthy mouthed and consumed by the fetid mouthed.

  6. ஊத்தைவாயன் தேடக் கர்ப்பூரவாயன் தின்ன.

  7. ஊத்தை போகக் குளித்தவனும் இல்லை பசிபோகத் தின்றவனும் இல்லை.
    No one performs ablutions so as not to repeat them, nor does any one eat so as not again to suffer hunger.
  8. ஊமை ஊரைக் கெடுக்கும் ஆமை கிணற்றைக் கெடுக்கும்.
    The dumb destroys a village, a tortoise or turtle destroys a well.
  9. ஊமை ஊரைக் கெடுக்கும் பெருச்சாளி வீட்டைக் கெடுக்கும்.
    A community is injured by the dumb, and a house by bandycootes.
  10. ஊமை கண்ட கனாப்போல் இருக்கிறது.
