  1. இருளன் பிள்ளைக்கு எலிக்குஞ்சு பஞ்சமா?

    Spoken of one who has been sadly disappointed in his expectations. The proverb is said to refer to a parrot that on seeing a green pod on a silk-cotton tree believed it would ripen into fruit, wheres it eventually burst and the cotton was scattered to the winds.

    If the flower of ilupai (Bassia Longifolia) be turned, it will be found hollow on both sides.
