3102 B.C.; the Original Sūrya Siddhānta from the previous midnight. The difference of the above times is 6 hours, and the year of the Original Sūrya Siddhānta is 6 seconds longer than that of the Ārya Siddhānta.

The two therefore came together in (6 hours or 21,600 seconds divided by 6 seconds) 3600 years, and mean Mēsha saṁkrānti took place at precisely the same moment by each in A.D. 499, namely, on Sunday, March 21st, at noon. Table I. gives in cols. 13 to 17 the time of apparent Mēsha samkrānti for 1600 years by the Ārya Siddhānta. By adding to this the śōdhya interval, viz., 2 d. 3 h. 32 m. 30 s., we have the time of mean Mēsha saṁkrānti by that authority. A.D. 499–500, or K.Y. 3600 expired, being the year in which mean Mēsha saṁkrānti by the Original Sūrya Siddhānta was in exact accord with the First Ārya Siddhānta, we have only to add to, or subtract from (according as the given year is subsequent or prior to A.D. 499, K.Y. 3600 expired), the times of mean Mēsha saṁkrānti by that authority as thus obtained, the differences between the two as stated in the following Table, in order to find the exact time of mean Mēsha saṁkrānti in any year according to the Original Sūrya Siddhānta. Since Table I. begins with K.Y. 3402 current (A.D. 300) I have prepared Table XXXVIII.A giving the times of apparent Mēsha saṁkrāntis by the First Ārya Siddhānta from K.Y. 3043 expired, 59–58 B.C. It is not likely that the time for any earlier year will ever be required, but should it be so it can be obtained for any year, however remote, in the manner shown in Example 3. Adding the śōdhya and applying the difference as shown in the following Table, the desired result (mean Mēsha by the Original Sūrya) is obtained for any year. [Table XXXVIII.A is prepared for apparent Mēsha saṁkrānti so that it may correspond with Table I., cols. 13 to 17, and minimise the chance of confusion.]
