Medical Officer. "What did you do first of all?"

Ambulance Man. "Gave 'im some brandy, Sir."

Medical Officer. "Quite right; but what would you have done if you hadn't had any brandy?"

Ambulance Man (promptly). "Promised 'im some!"

A CONVINCING ARGUMENT.

Officer (visiting outpost). "If you saw one of the enemy, what would you do?"

Sentry. "I calls 'im to 'alt."

Officer. "Suppose he won't halt?"

Sentry (with relish). "I takes and 'unts 'im wiv me bayonnit."
