TO LESBIA.

FROM CATULLUS.

"Vivamus, mea Lesbia, atque amemus."

My Lesbia, let us live and love:
And should th' ill-natured old reprove,
Oh let not that our spirits move!

The sun that sets, again will rise;
But we, when life's short daylight dies,
In endless night must close our eyes.

Kiss me a hundred thousand times,
Another hundred thousand times,
And a third hundred thousand times.

Then, after many million kisses,
The reckoning we'll confuse with more;
Lest any envy us our blisses,
On counting up the joyous score.
