"Aren't we veering from the subject, Miss Mack?" Detective Wiley broke in impatiently.

"Do you think so?" Madelyn's eyes rested on his florid face. "I was particularly interested, Nora, in your account of the bride's coiffure. I agree with you that it was decidedly becoming.
