The box rattles, then it shows the finished word:
seli
The word for warmth. For a while, you stand there wondering if you've done something wrong. But then you feel a pleasant temperature radiating from the box. Satisfied with your work, you return to the city. People come out of the tunnel entrances and cheer you. The residents of the towers wonder briefly what's going on out there, but otherwise don't seem to mind.
You return to your village with a good feeling. On the way, you already notice how the rivulet that flows from the city slowly increases in size. When you arrive, it becomes an actual stream, and in the coming days the river will return to its former size. Just as you planned, the heat from the magic box will compensate for the excessive cold of the towers, and the ice in them can melt as usual and serve as a source for the river.
