The city can no longer be saved. The river has dried up. With all the gold, the country buys a steady import of water and food. The country is saved and the two merchants you met at the riverbed are happy - but at what price? The wagon train, the mass of people, the waste produced - the land is no longer what it was. Maybe money wasn't the perfect solution after all?
