proxy 22nd July 1487. He died in the beginning of May 1497, and was buried in the body of St. Paul's cathedral, London[1]. His will is dated 1st Nov. 1493. The congé d'élire, vice bishop Robert, is dated 27th July 1497[2].

John Gigles[3], LL.D., archdeacon of Gloucester and London was appointed by papal bull dated 30th Aug.
1497; he received the spiritualities from the archbishop 18th Oct., and the temporalities 5th Dec. following[4]. He was enthroned by his proxy 12th April
1498, and died at Rome 25th Aug. in the same year[5].
1499,br>14 H. VII. Silvester Gigles succeeded his uncle in this see,
having been provided thereto by papal bull dated
24th Dec. 1498, the temporalities[6] whereof wore restored to him 17th March 1498-9[7]. He was installed 6th April 1499, and died at Rome 16th April 1521.
Julius de Medtcis, a Roman cardinal, was made administrator of this see by the Pope's bull dated 31st July 1521[8], and so continued for about a year[9]. He resigned 26th Sept. 1522.
