10th Sept. 121874, he was consecrated 7th Oct. following, and enthroned on the 28th of that month[1]. He died 18th Aug. 1236[2].
1237 WALTER DE CANTILUPE was elected 30th Aug. 1236, 21 Hen.III. and confirmed 20th Sept.[3], on the 9th of which month the royal assent was given to his election [4], and the temporalities were restored to him 30th Jan. 1236-7[5]. He was ordained deacon by the Pope at Viterbo 4th April, priest on the 18th of the same month, and consecrated 3rd May[6]. He died 12th Feb.1265-6[7], and was buried in Worcester cathedral. The congé d'élire, vice bishop Cantilupe, bears date 21st Feb. 1265-6[8].
1266 NICHOLAS, archdeacon of Ely, obtained the royal assent 50Hen. III. to his election 8th June 1266[9], and the temporalities were restored to him on the 18th of the same month[10]. He was consecrated on the Sunday before Michaelmas[11] (26th Sept.); and on 24th Feb. 1267-8, he was translated to Winchester.
1268 GODFREY GIFFARD, archdeacon of Wells and chancellor 5:Hen. III. of England, succeeded bishop Nicholas, and received the temporalities of the see 13th June 1268[12]; he was enthroned 25th Dec. following. He died 26th Jan. 1301-2[13], and was buried 4th Feb. in Worcester cathedral[14]. On 5th Feb.1301-2 the prior and chapter of Worcester report the death of Godfrey, their late bishop, and pray the King to issue his congé d'élire[6],
