The chief interest of the present grant lies in the fact that it ia the only copper-plate inseriptian' of the king so far discovered. Stone inscriptions of Ana-Vota knowu till now number only five and range in date from Sake 1275 to L255. The oaglipst dave known for lis father Prolaya-Véma is Saka 1254, and an inscription from Mallavaram in the Qngole talak of the Guntur (formerly Nellore) Distries gives for him the Sake year 12[7]7, which, if correct, would be hia latest date. But the reading of the latter date appears to be wrong far reason cited in the foot-note below and may have to be equated with Saka 1267." An inscription of this king from Tripuraatakam ia dated in Saka 1248* and this ia the latest date «0 far known for him. ‘His son Ana-Vata also figures in this record, probably as the: orown-prince. That he was « yuvordja in his father’s reign is referred to in & verse in Maripamdamny aleo.? He may therefore be presumed to have succeeded his father some time between Saka 1268 and Eake 1275. ‘The roord bearing the Saka date 1283 quoted above refers to the recon struction of the Amaréévara temple at Dharapikéya by Vama-Chamiipati, the son. of Mallinatha who was the minister of Ana Vota. As the renovation was made for the increase of the life, health and prosperity of Ana-Véta, it may be reasonably presumed that ke was ruling in Saka 1283.
