MAny will be found in the Book: a good part preceeding (beſides ordinary typographical miſtakes, even where beſt care is uſed:) from the uncorrectedneſſe of the ⟨Copy⟩: which might happen. partly through the illegib'eneſſe of the Original it ſelf, in many places and partly from miſtakes in the ſaid Original, where moſt legible. The cauſe of which mistakes and miſwriting, you may find P. I. p. 159. l. 20. &c. and beſides what is there ſaid, it may be probably collected from P. II. p. 27. l. 43. and p. 23. l. 20. and ſome other like places that Ed. Kelley. for the moſt part, when he made report to Doctor Dee, of voices and ſpeeches, (ſuch eſpecially as were of ſome length) did not know what he ſaid himſelf, and ſo might the eaſier miſtake. A good part of the Greek, P. I. p. 27 was miſreported, and miſtaken, as is ſhewed in the Preface p....) and I believe never throughly underſtood by Doctor Dee himſelf: It cannot therefore be expected otherwiſe, but that there ſhould be many faults in the writing: for which I would not have the innocent (the Printers and Correctors, I mean:) to bear more blame, than comes to their ſhare, Yet however, though many: moſt are ſuch (thoſe places excepted where the Original was very faulty:) as may eaſily be corrected by an ordinary Reader that is converſant in books of all kinds: Or if not ſo eaſily corrected yet ſuch as will not bereave the Reader of the main ſenſe and matter. Some few paſſages here and there, it may be, will be found where a reaſonable Scholar may be put to it: as P. II. p. 9. l. 11. alias vobiſmei ipſis diſimpernis: which certainly muſt be read, alas vobiſmet ipſis diſruperitis: there being a man feſt (and pertinent) alluſion, in the words, to that allegorical (wing-breeding: or, bearing:) of the ſoul, ſo famous in the Books of Philoſophers; Platoniſts eſpecially. That very expreſſionis to be found in Plato, (or Works commonly adſcribed unto him:) not onely and : (which is the ſame in effect:) but even : alas confringere, as it is here. Some ſuch places here and there, may be found, where the Reader muſ take ſome time to conſider, (in what is Latine, eſpecially) if he think it worth the while. I have ſaid as much as I think needful, and my leiſure will afford me at this time.

¶ Since this written, obſerving that p. 43, 404, the Latine there in both pages, is very full of faults, (far more there, than any where elſe that I have obſerved:) I thought it would not be amiſſe to correct thoſe two pages. The Reader may the better know what he hath to do upon ſuch occaſions, though I dare ſay he will not meet with the like again in the whole Book.
