The Very Rev. Valerian Havlovic, O.S.B., Celebrates Ruby Jubilee.
“He is a pearl of St. Procopius Abbey,” said Msgr. Hessoun of St. Louis about the Very Rev. Valerian Havlovic, O.S.B., who at present is the Rector of St. Procopius Seminary, Lisle, Illinois.

Father Havlovic was born in Všeruby, Bohemia, on November 14, 1864. He came to America in 1877 and studied at St. Vincent Abbey, where he made his simple profession in 1882. After completing his studies there, he came to Chicago, where he was ordained priest by Archbishop Feehan in 1887. Thereupon he was appointed assistant pastor at St. Procopius Church and instructor at St. Procopius Academy in Chicago. From 1893 to 1897 he was pastor of St. Vitus Parish, where he built a beautiful brick church. From 1897 to 1910 he was stationed at St. Procopius Abbey, in Chicago,
