in 1560. The brethren of the Scuola had asked some of the chief painters of Venice to send in trial sketches for the centrepiece in the ceiling. Tintoretto produced a finished painting instead of a sketch, and had it placed in the oval. Versailles; contemporary. History painter,
pupil of Jules Lefèbvre and of Boulanger.

Lemberg, Galicia, in 1823. One of the best
