JEWISH BRIDE (Fiancée Juive), Rembrandt, Amsterdam Museum; canvas, H. 3 ft. 10 in. × 5 ft. 4 in.; signed. A man, in yellow dress and mantle, and black hat, stands with his left hand on the shoulder of a woman dressed in red, with jewels, pearls, and lace on her arms and neck. Nothing to justify calling it Jewish; surmised to be portraits of Rembrandt and his wife. Painted about 1660; in his last manner.
