And the kyng ſaid to hym yf thou do ſo/ I ſhal make to the an ymage of golde and offre ſacrefyfes therto/ lyke as to my goddes/ and he ſayd take aweye al them that ben about thy ſone and put to hym fayre wymmen and wel adourned/ and commaunde them alle waye to abyde by hym/ and after I ſhal ſende a wycked ſpyryte that ſhal enflamme hym to luxurye/ and there is noo thynge that may ſo ſone deceyue the yonge men/ as the beaulte of wymmen/ and he ſayd yet more/ there was a kynge whyche had wyth grete payne a ſone/ & the wyſe mayſters ſayden that yf he ſawe ſonne or mone wythin ten yere / he ſhold loſe the ſyghte of his eyen /
Thenne hit was ordeyned that thys chylde ſhold be nouriſſhed wythin a pytte made in a grete rocke / and whan the ten yere were paſſyd/ The kynge commaunded that hys ſone ſhold be brought forth and that all thynges ſhold be broughte tofore hym by cauſe he ſhold knowe the names and the thynges/ and thenne they brought tofore hym Jewelles/ horſes and beeſtys of al names/ and alſo golde/
