Thenne the kynge departed from hym in grete angre / and ſayd to arache his frende alle the hardnes of his ſone and he counceylled the kynge that he ſhold gyue hym noo ſharpe wordes/ for a chylde is better reformed by fayr and ſwete wordes / The day folowyng the kynge came to his ſone & beganne to clyppe enbrace and kyffe hym/ and ſayd to hym my ryght ſwete ſone honoure thou myn olde age/ ſone drede thy fader/ knoweſt thou not wel that it is good to obeye thy fader & make hym glad/ and for to doo contrarye it is ſynne/ and they that angre them ſynne euyl/ to whome Joſaphat fayd there is tyme to loue/ and tyme to hate/ tyme of pees/ and tyme of bataylle/ and we ought in no wyſe loue them / ne obeye to them that wold put vs aweye fro god be it fader or moder/

And whan hys fader ſawe his ſtedfaſtneſſe / he ſayd to hym/ ſythe I ſee thy folye and wylte not obeye to me/ Come and we ſhal knowe the trouth/ For balaam whiche hath deceyued the is bounden in my pryſon/ and lete vs aſſemble our peple wyth balaam / and I ſhal ſende for alle the galylees/ that they may ſaufly come wythout drede and dyſpute/ and yf that ye with yon balaam ouercome vs / we ſhal byleue and obeye you/ and yf we
