1. The Malerualik Find.
The Settlement.
The following description of the settlement and the various house ruins at Malerualik has been drawn up on the basis of Knud Rasmussen's report:
Malerualik is a point on the south coast of King William's Land at Simpson Strait, between McClintock Bay and Douglass Bay; the name means "the place where one follows the caribou" and it is one of the most important passages for the caribou from the mainland to King William's Land; it is also a good sealing ground and also lies at the mouth of a good salmon river. At this place are the ruins of an Eskimo settlement of rather unusual dimensions.
Fig 104 is a sketch, drawn from the measurements made by
