prong for salmon spear, the trout needle, the broad snow knife handle, the wedge of antler, the scraper of caribou scapula, are all very familiar from Naujan, some of them in the same variations; from house IX there are such characteristic forms as the harpoon heads (Thule Image missingFig. 83.Flint flaker. House Ruin XXII, Kuk. 1:2. types 2 and 3), the water squeezing knife, the knife with lateral blade slit; the only stone implement found in these ruins was a slate blade. Even if the number of objects found in these two ruins is not particularly great, the specimens are, however, sufficiently characteristic to determine with great certainty that these two house ruins are contemporary with the Naujan settlement; the height above sea level, 12 metres, also corresponds exactly to the lowest ruins at Naujan. The other ruins in the upper group, which were levelled just as much as VI and IX: I, II, X, XI, XIII and XIV, are apparently of the same age. Of the 15 house ruins in the upper group, eight of them thus seem to be contemporary with the Naujan settlement.
The find from the very flattened house XVI in the lower group also seems to be very close to these. The arrow head with conical tang, one of the side prongs for the salmon spear, the knife handle with blade slit at one side, the adze head, the mattock, the ulo handle, are all objects which are well-known from and partly characteristic of the Naujan find; the objects found here which are not known from Naujan — the side prongs and the barbs for salmon spears, with slots instead of holes and the ornamented button, need not mean a period difference; but if no definite culture difference can be proved between this ruin and the Naujan find, its situation, 6½ m above sea level, indicates a difference of age; ruin XVI is apparently rather later than VI and IX; that the flint objects outnumber those of slate might also be an indication in this direction. Of the other houses in the lower group only XX has yielded a find that solely contains Naujan types: the arrow head with conical tang and the heavy soapstone vessel; it is true, however, that this find only comprises these two specimens.
