CASSIO′TIS (Κασσιῶτις), a district of northern Syria, containing, according lo Ptolemy (v. 15, § 16), the cities of Antiocheia, Daphne, Bactalalla, Lydia, Seleuceia, Epiphaneia, Raphanea, Antaradus, Marathus, Mariane, and Mamurga. It probably wad never considered as a political division (comp. Marquardt, Handbuch der Röm. Alt. p, 176), but was rather a district marked out by the natural features of the country.
