ARABIAE and ARABICUS MONS (τῆς Ἀραβίης, τὸ Ἀράβιον οὖρος: Jebel Mokattem, &c.), the name given by Herodotus (ii. 8) to the range of mountains which form the eastern border of the Nile-valley, and separated it from the part of Arabia W. of the Arabian Gulf. The range on the west side towards Libya he names, in the same way, Libyci Montes. [Aegyptus.]
