Collier's New Encyclopedia (1921)/Nördlingen

NÖRDLINGEN, a town of Bavaria; on the Eger river; 44 miles N. W. of Augsburg; it has a Gothic church (restored 1880), with a high tower and fine organ, and manufactures carpets. Here took place, Sept. 16, 1634, the great battle in which the Swedes were defeated by the Imperialists with a loss of 12,000 killed and wounded.
