Gilbert Oakley Ward
(1880–1944)

Born in 1880 in New York City, was educated in the New York City public schools. Graduated from Columbia University in 1902 and from the Pratt Institute Library School in 1908. In 1908- 1909 he was an assistant in the Pratt Institute Free Library. Starting 1909 he was a member of the staff of the Cleveland Public Library, as librarian of the Technical High School in 1909-1910, and as technical librarian starting in 1910. From 1911 to 1913 he served as Supervisor of High School Branches.
