PREFACE.

The systematic cultivation of Memory is a subject exciting much interest at the present time. A really intelligible method of remembering acquired knowledge must be acceptable to clergymen, literary men, public speakers, elocutionists, educators, and students generally. I have ventured to furnish such a method in this book, "Aids to Memory," which is the result of many years' study and research. The system is not intended as a substitute for thought and application, without which no scholar has ever been made, or ever will be. It is rather designed to ​relieve the mind from that exhaustion which attends the incessant repetition of unassociated ideas, and thus enable its energies to be concentrated on purely intellectual acquirements.
